We grow and change everyday. While our body and minds are still young, while we are still changing and growing, we should be experiencing as much as possible. For those experiences make you into the person you are in the present. Seeing a broad variety of different cultures, can be very eye opening and delight you with a more open mind. It’s a great thing to know and learn about the different cultures around us. I’m going to give you a few detailed reasons why traveling while you’re still young can be very one of the best things you ever did for yourself.
1. You Still Have The Rest of Your Life.
I like to believe in living each day as it’s your last. But we all have this thought in the back of our minds that it isn’t our last. So go travel to benefit your future self. You will find out more and more about yourself through every journey. The challenges you will face and the lessons you will learn. It’s all part of a growing experience that will make you the person you want to be. You have the rest of your life to work, raise a family, and get arthritis. So you might as well pack your bags and get on the road while your mind is fresh and your body is strong. Life sneaks up on you so quickly and before you know it you aren’t physically capable to travel. The time for empowerment is in our youth. Take advantage of it.
2. Become Humble.
Every time I travel, even if it’s just a mini two hour road trip to Traverse City, I find myself coming back home with a sense of humbleness. I realize that I’m not the only person in the world that matters. Seeing different people outside of my community reminds me that I am just a tiny part of this incredibly large population of people we have. Traveling changes your perspective to become more open minded and open to learning the lives of other people. Lose yourself for a little bit, that is where you find yourself.
3. You Will Relate to People More Than You Ever Imagined.
The past couple years, I’ve been to a few music festivals and many different concerts (I’ll write a blog on that later). I’ve come across some of the most incredible people. Some of the festivals and shows were in different states. Although it is not traveling as far as Europe, I still got a wide variety of people to come in contact with. Learning about their lives really opened my mind to the million different ways my life could have turned out. I learned that you can never fully understand a person but you can try to relate to them as much as possible. Imagine traveling around the world and the amount of different stories you will come across. The possibilities are mind blowing.
“Traveling is a brutality. It forces you to trust strangers and to lose sight of all that familiar comfort of home and friends. You are constantly off balance.” Cesare Pavese
